When I attempt to perform a HotSync, I get the error message: "conduit manager unexpectedly quit". At the same time, the handheld shows "synchronizing filemaker" and contiunes to for a minute or so after this. Then I get "your handheld needs to be reset". I reset it and preferences opens, I exit preferences and attempt to open applications only to be thwarted by yet another message " The application cannot be launched because it is missing localization information".

    Does anyone have a clue?

    Thanks, Peter

A few possible cause... I'd suggest doing this.

    Hard reset your palm.
    Open palm desktop
Create a new user (the users drop down is near the upper right corner)
Sync to the new user, make sure it syncs with failing.

If it does, you'll need to merge your data into the new user.

The file will be located in 1 of 2 places (you didn't mention your OS)

    OSX
    ~/home/documents/palm/users/hotsync user name

    OS9
    /documenuts/palm/users/hotsync user name

The file with the information is called simply "User Data"

    To merge:
    - Make sure you have the NEW user selected
    - Click file > merge
    - Browse to the OLD user folder (details above)
    - Select User Data, and click merge

    - Now try and sync again, it should work.

The second message will probably go away once the hotsync works properly. It arises when only half of the program gets installed.
