Hello everyone,
I spend many days of intensive forum browsing of this problem.Firstly, it is possible tu hae GPS on Tungsten E.
I'm not clear about solutions, I have more combinations how to do that, so please comment my suggestions, if I'm correct/incorrect, and write your experience.
So I want to have GPS unit with my Tungsten E.
1.Bluetooth Solution.
Can Tungsten E handle bluetooth device sticked in SD slot ?
If Yes, i think, connection to a BlueTooth GPS receiver will be without problems. Does exist SDIO Bluetooth device with additional expansion slot ?
Does palm need special drivers for GPS receiver unit ? I think NMEA 0183 is standard protocol with comes with most GPS receivers.
If No, what do you think of SPECTEC, point 2
2.Spectec solution
They have SDIO GPS RECEIVER SDG-810 solution, with added microSD slot, or SDG-812 with BlueTooth support (maybe not possible because of more power consuption), very effective to store maps, and so on.
I have heard that that company is not so "customer friendly".
I'v got Official Palm answer that support for SDIO cards/drivers I have to talk with exact company, but people say, that SDIO slot is compatible with any SDIO card, without problems.
If this still dont works, point 3
3.GPS "Mouse" solution
I think it was started by Kirrio company and their's solution.
I now that Tungsten is USB slave device, so I found also some solutions for this like Holux gr213, chingtek gps-355.haicom 204s, altina ggm-309. All I need is to have PS/2 to USB mini cable solution. It is easy to buy, and also can be maded by your own.
But I don't understand that it will works, because I found some thread like, the GPS mouse is sending data, but Palm have to send byte and after that it can receive data from gps. I think it can be maded by application to send one byte, but I'm not sure of this solution.
Byte post
Thank you for any answer of solution and suggestion.
Sorry for my pure English (Slovakia country)
I am sorry, Palm devices CANNOT host any other USB devices, so thats out of the question.

The setup described there uses a USB Host interface between the GPS and the Palm.
Hello cwaegaer, welcome to

No problem at all with your English
1. I am not aware about an SDIO/BT solution for PalmOS, certainly not for TE.
2. Spectec solution is also new to me. I doubt it will work for PalmOS though.
3. Kirrio solution is what I used also when still having a TE. The mouse acts as USB host so any GPS program you have on your device can communicate with that using serial protocol.
ok, I will but GPS Mouse, but
Question about PS/2 and USB,
Can I buy GPS Mouse with USB cable ? then I just buy reduction to my USB mini connector,
or I have to strictly buy PS2 gps mouse and buy convertor cable from PS2 to miniUSB for tungsten E
There are no SDIO Bluetooth cards which work on current Palm OS models.
I have had a Holux mouse GPS on my Tungsten E for over a year now. It uses a specific cable on a Kirrio serial connection (USB port), and works well with all gps software I own (mapopolis, cotoGPS, cetusGPS.)
thx
hm, that does not make me sense, previous posts said that is possible, or like the post t.
I'm little bit confused
